400 m run
400 m run is a speed discipline in BYOH, trained with track and building quickness and stamina. Its ladder runs from 400 m in 2:30 or less at Level 1 to 400 m in 1 min or less at Level 9, and Level 10 is the world record.
The ten levels
BYOH measures a discipline in ten cleared levels. Level 9 is a genuine feat; Level 10 is the standing world record, which is there to be looked at rather than reached.
400 m run starts at Level 1 with 400 m in 2:30 or less. Level 5 asks for 400 m in 1:35 or less, and Level 9 - the last level a person can train towards - 400 m in 1 min or less. The largest single jump is from Level 1 to Level 2, 400 m in 2:30 or less to 400 m in 2:10 or less.

The record past Level 9
400 m run — World-class governed record gate.
BYOH uses a provisional final gate until a comparable governed record format is selected. This is a provisional benchmark rather than a governed record.
How it is done
- Warm up and use a measured route.
- Run one continuous 400 m effort.
- Record the full elapsed time.
How the attempt is judged
A level only means something if two heroes clearing it have done the same thing. These are the rules BYOH counts an attempt by — they are the rules of a game, not coaching.
- What counts as one
- Four hundred metres, timed from your first movement to crossing the line.
- The set
- A single continuous effort from a standing start.
- What you need
- A flat measured four hundred metres. Hand timing is fine in the alpha.
- What ends it
- A rolling start, a net downhill, or stopping to walk does not count.
What it builds
400 m run feeds Quickness and Stamina in a hero’s record, working legs, cardiovascular.
- Maximum speed
- Acceleration
- Interval capacity
- Aerobic endurance
400 m run is one of 4 speed disciplines. It shares its track requirement with 2 other speed disciplines. Quickness is also built by 100 m sprint, 200 m sprint, 5–10–5 shuttle and 4 more, and a broad attribute needs several of them rather than one taken far.

Put it on a record
BYOH turns these levels into a hero: what you clear becomes attributes, quests and a character that grows with your training. It is free, and in open alpha.
