Effective 11 September 2026
Terms of service
These terms govern use of the BYOH alpha. The service is experimental, and the terms aim to state plainly what users and the operator can expect from each other.
1. Service and operator
BYOH is an independent fitness role-playing game operated during alpha and beta by Niels Kragbak in Denmark, contactable at niels@byoh.io. By creating an account or using BYOH, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Alpha service
BYOH is under active development. Features, calculations, content and availability may change. Errors or interruptions may occur, and data may occasionally need to be repaired or restored. Reasonable care will be taken to protect the service and user information, but uninterrupted or error-free operation cannot be promised.
3. Account responsibilities
You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in details secure and promptly report suspected unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. Do not impersonate another person or use a hero name intended to deceive or harass.
4. Fitness and health
BYOH is a game and progress tracker. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, coaching or a personalised training programme. Level targets and records are game benchmarks rather than instructions to attempt a feat. Choose exercises, loads and environments appropriate for your health, experience and surroundings. Stop if an activity causes pain, and seek qualified medical or training advice when needed.
5. Fair and respectful use
You may not use BYOH to break the law, threaten or harass others, publish another person’s private information, distribute malware, interfere with the service, evade access controls, automate abusive traffic or misrepresent exercise verification. Public and shared content may be removed, and accounts may be restricted or suspended, when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of content you create. You give BYOH a limited permission to store, process and display it only as needed to operate the features and sharing choices you use. You must have the right to submit that content. You can remove supported content or request assistance where the interface does not yet provide a deletion control.
7. BYOH content and software
The BYOH name, original artwork, interface text, game rules and other original material are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Third-party and open-source material remains subject to its own licence. These terms allow personal use of the service; they do not transfer ownership of BYOH material.
8. Privacy
The privacy policy explains how personal information is handled. BYOH does not sell personal data. Messages between companions are encrypted on their devices; BYOH does not store their plaintext or private keys. The privacy policy explains the encryption limits and the 90-day message expiry and cleanup process. Posts are stored in the clear and are readable by administrators for moderation.
9. Availability and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, BYOH is provided in its current alpha form without additional warranties. The operator is not responsible for indirect loss, lost progress, loss caused by user-chosen exercise, or events outside reasonable control. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory Danish and EU consumer protections.
10. Ending use
You may stop using BYOH at any time and can delete your hero in Settings. Authentication-account deletion is handled on request during alpha. The operator may suspend or end access for serious or repeated breaches, security threats, legal requirements or discontinuation of the alpha, with notice where reasonably possible.
11. Changes and governing law
These terms may change as BYOH develops. Material changes will be communicated in the service and the effective date updated. Danish law applies, subject to any mandatory protections that apply where you live. Disputes should first be raised with the operator so a practical solution can be attempted.
