Single-arm push-up
Single-arm push-up is a strength discipline in BYOH, trained with bodyweight and building chest and core. Its ladder runs from 1 rep at Level 1 to 30+ reps at Level 9, and Level 10 is the world record.
The ten levels
BYOH measures a discipline in ten cleared levels. Level 9 is a genuine feat; Level 10 is the standing world record, which is there to be looked at rather than reached.
Single-arm push-up starts at Level 1 with 1 rep. Level 5 asks for 9 reps, and Level 9 - the last level a person can train towards - 30+ reps. The largest single jump is from Level 8 to Level 9, 22 reps to 30+ reps.

The record past Level 9
Single-arm push-up — Provisional legend benchmark.
Guinness recognises one-arm push-ups only in variants - fingertips, back of the hand, hand release, one arm and one leg - and none of them is this movement. This is a provisional benchmark rather than a governed record.
How it is done
- Set the feet wide and place one hand under the chest.
- Put the free hand behind the back and lower the chest towards the floor.
- Press up without letting the hips roll open. Count both arms together.
How the attempt is judged
A level only means something if two heroes clearing it have done the same thing. These are the rules BYOH counts an attempt by — they are the rules of a game, not coaching.
- What counts as one
- One repetition is chest towards the floor and back to a straight arm on one hand, the free hand behind the back. Left and right together make one repetition.
- The set
- One unbroken set. You may pause in the supported position for as long as you like; the set ends the moment you leave it.
- What you need
- Feet set as wide as you need, one hand under the chest. The supported position is the top on either arm.
- What ends it
- The free hand touching down, or the hips rolling open so the shoulders no longer face the floor, ends the set.
What it builds
Single-arm push-up feeds Chest and Core in a hero’s record, working chest, triceps, obliques.
- Pressing strength
- Press control
- Lateral & rotational
- Triceps
- Anterior bracing
Single-arm push-up is one of 32 strength disciplines. It shares its bodyweight requirement with 13 other strength disciplines. Chest is also built by push-ups, dumbbell bench press, barbell bench press and 3 more, and a broad attribute needs several of them rather than one taken far.
Put it on a record
BYOH turns these levels into a hero: what you clear becomes attributes, quests and a character that grows with your training. It is free, and in open alpha.
