Plyometric push-up
Plyometric push-up is a strength discipline in BYOH, trained with bodyweight and building chest and quickness. Its ladder runs from 1 rep at Level 1 to 60+ reps at Level 9, and Level 10 is the world record.
The ten levels
BYOH measures a discipline in ten cleared levels. Level 9 is a genuine feat; Level 10 is the standing world record, which is there to be looked at rather than reached.
Plyometric push-up starts at Level 1 with 1 rep. Level 5 asks for 15 reps, and Level 9 - the last level a person can train towards - 60+ reps. The largest single jump is from Level 8 to Level 9, 42 reps to 60+ reps.

The record past Level 9
Most push-ups with claps in one minute — 90 reps, Stephen Buttler (17 Nov 2011).
A clap is how a governed record proves both hands left the floor. Ninety in sixty seconds is three every two seconds, each one thrown clear. Source.
How it is done
- Move into a prone position on the floor, supporting your weight on your hands and toes.
- Your arms should be fully extended with the hands around shoulder width. Keep your body straight throughout the movement. This will be your starting position.
- Descend by flexing at the elbow, lowering your chest towards the ground.
- At the bottom, reverse the motion by pushing yourself up through elbow extension as quickly as possible. Attempt to push your upper body up until your hands leave the ground.
- Return to the starting position and repeat the exercise.
- For added difficulty, add claps into the movement while you are air borne.

How the attempt is judged
A level only means something if two heroes clearing it have done the same thing. These are the rules BYOH counts an attempt by — they are the rules of a game, not coaching.
- What counts as one
- One repetition is a push-up driven hard enough that both hands leave the floor at the top.
- The set
- One unbroken set. You may pause in the supported position for as long as you like; the set ends the moment you leave it.
- What you need
- A firm surface that will not slip, hands about shoulder width. The supported position is the top, arms straight.
- What ends it
- A repetition where either hand stays down is not a repetition. A knee or hip touching the floor ends the set.
What it builds
Plyometric push-up feeds Chest and Quickness in a hero’s record, working chest, shoulders, triceps.
- Press control
- Pressing strength
- Acceleration
- Triceps
- Coordination & balance
Plyometric push-up is one of 32 strength disciplines. It shares its bodyweight requirement with 13 other strength disciplines. Chest is also built by push-ups, dumbbell bench press, barbell bench press and 3 more, and a broad attribute needs several of them rather than one taken far.
