Pistol squat
Pistol squat is a strength discipline in BYOH, trained with bodyweight and building legs and quickness. Its ladder runs from 1 rep at Level 1 to 22+ reps at Level 9, and Level 10 is the world record.
The ten levels
BYOH measures a discipline in ten cleared levels. Level 9 is a genuine feat; Level 10 is the standing world record, which is there to be looked at rather than reached.
Pistol squat starts at Level 1 with 1 rep. Level 5 asks for 7 reps, and Level 9 - the last level a person can train towards - 22+ reps. The largest single jump is from Level 8 to Level 9, 17 reps to 22+ reps.

The record past Level 9
Pistol squat — Provisional legend benchmark.
Governed pistol-squat records are set against a clock or on a single leg only, which is a different attempt from alternating legs in one unbroken set. This is a provisional benchmark rather than a governed record.
How it is done
- Stand on one leg with the other straight out in front, arms forward for balance.
- Sit all the way down until the hip is below the knee, heel flat.
- Stand back up on the same leg without the free foot touching down. One on each leg is one repetition.
How the attempt is judged
A level only means something if two heroes clearing it have done the same thing. These are the rules BYOH counts an attempt by — they are the rules of a game, not coaching.
- What counts as one
- One repetition is a full squat on one leg - hip below the knee, heel down - and standing tall again, then the same on the other leg.
- The set
- One unbroken set. You may pause in the supported position for as long as you like; the set ends the moment you leave it.
- What you need
- A clear, level floor with nothing to hold. The supported position is standing on both feet.
- What ends it
- The free foot touching the floor, a hand on anything, or stopping short of hip below knee, does not count.
What it builds
Pistol squat feeds Legs and Quickness in a hero’s record, working quadriceps, glutes, calves.
- Quadriceps
- Glutes
- Coordination & balance
- Calves
- Whole-body work capacity
Pistol squat is one of 41 strength disciplines. It shares its bodyweight requirement with 15 other strength disciplines. Legs is also built by bodyweight squat, dumbbell lunges, dumbbell clean and 7 more, and a broad attribute needs several of them rather than one taken far.
